Ettore Muti nasce a Ravenna il 22 maggio 1902. Non ancora maggiorenne, nel corso della prima guerra mondiale, si arruola negli Arditi. Finita la prima guerra mondiale, partecipa con Gabriele D’annunzio all’impresa di Fiume. Sarà lo stesso Vate a dagli il nome di “Gim dagli occhi verdi”.
Dopo Fiume diventa uno dei principali esponenti del movimento fascista nella provincia di Ravennese.
La sua vita è tutta un susseguirsi di aneddoti. Famoso resta quello che la vede dare due sberle ad un inglese che aveva parlato male della Regia Aeronautica.
Da ufficiale pilota partecipa alla guerra d’Abissina e poi alla guerra di Spagna.
