La scorsa settimana ho partecipato alla GCEC Conference che si è tenuta qui a State College, occasione che permette il radunarsi dei direttori dei più importanti Entrepreneurship Centers degli Stati Uniti (ma is spreading to countries outside the U.S.) as well as practitioners and academics working in the field.
One of the keynote speakers was Steve Welch 
. Steve, along with a group of investors, has recently founded DreamIt Ventures, a company that has a business model that has traits of genius. The idea is pretty simple: how many people, especially young people, have an entrepreneurial idea, but need (few) resources and comparison with experienced entrepreneurs (mentors) to start your own business? DreamIt Ventures offers an answer to this question: If your idea is selected from the group's managing partner and mentor, the team's potential entrepreneurs are given a space in the open space of the headquarters of DreamIt Ventures for the 3 summer months. For each team is given a sum of money depends on several factors (size of the team, the complexity of the idea ...) and unlimited access to advice / comparison with the mentor program. Purpose: To have a product or at least a beta version by the end of 3 months and be self-sufficient financially. Difficult task? If you have an idea, but you do not have the skills tecniche, i managing partner e i mentor provvederanno a mettere in contatto chi ha avuto l'idea con una persona in possesso degli skill tecnici (e, nota bene, una persona con all'attivo esperienze, possibilimente fallimentari, imprenditoriali). Perchè possibilmente fallimentari? Perchè si impara di più dai fallimenti che dai successi. E questo non lo dico io, lo dicono tutti gli imprenditori che ho intervistato sino ad ora per le mie ricerche accademiche.
Ah, un ultimo dettaglio: il range di età delle persone che hanno partecipato fino ad ora va dai 17 (il fondatore di SCVNGR) ai 54 anni, quindi non ci sono scuse.
